Launched in fall of 2021, Illinois State University’s Search Advocate Program is modeled after Oregon State University’s program and designed to support the recruitment and selection processes for faculty and staff across campus. Key priorities are ensuring equitable and inclusive processes throughout the recruitment and selection cycle, increasing the diversity of candidate pools, and enhancement of compliance with search and selection policies and procedures. On September 5, 2017 the Trump administration announced the decision to wind down the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Lawsuits were filed in multiple federal courts challenging this decision. As part of the litigation, courts issued injunctions requiring the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services to continue to process DACA renewal applications. No new applications for DACA status were accepted after the decision was made. On June 28, 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear the DACA court cases. The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the cases on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 and issued its decision on June 19, 2020. Read More.
